The Very Pretty Pattison's Patisserie
Pattison's is a bakery franchise that I have seen slowly popping up all around Sydney. This particular Pattison's fortunately or unfortunately for me (depending on how you look at it) is located at my local shopping center. So as I drag my super heavy grocery bags across the shopping center, this is the beautiful oasis that greets my eyes every time (strategically located outside Woolworths) .
The allure of the perfectly shinny windows, the colourful desserts and seductive lighting is just too much! Of course I have to go in and satisfy my cravings.
So.... of course by now I have been there multiple times... and I have decided to document one of my trips to Pattison's for everyone.
The beautiful display case that welcomes you as you walk in, followed by a friendly girl ready to take your order. Let me just add... trying to decide what you want from the vast selection is almost as hard as answering the question to life ( ahem*42*). Anyways my tactic is to choose desserts that are opposites, something rich and something light.
Something rich : Salted Caramel and Peanut Tart $6.50
A Peanuty tart shell, lined with salted peanut bits, a condensed milk style caramel and ganache like chocolate layer on top. I enjoyed the richness of this tart very much, however I would have preferred to taste a bit more salt and a harder tart shell (I suspect that the shell may have softened over time). The price is also a bit dear for what it is, but it is hard to put a price on happiness.
Something Light (It's light to me):Cherry and Almond Tart $6.15
A shortcrust pastry shell, 4 big black cherries, almond filling and toasted flaked almonds with a glaze over the top. The almond filling on this tart was amazing not too sweet, slightly chewy, crumbly yet still moist. It had the perfect cherry to almond filling ratio, Yum The only bone I had to pick with it would be that the pastry shell may have been slightly under cooked as the bottom was a little soft and had a slight raw taste to it. Other than that it was great.
Something to wash it down: A pot of Jasmine tea $4.60
Hallelujah! Ladies and Gentleman this is exactly what I like to see, a place that serves tea that uses loose leaf tea. There is nothing I dislike more than to spend money on a pot of tea with a stale little teabag that would normally cost me 20cents at the supermarkets. I was ecstatic when my generous sized pot of jasmine tea arrived and I opened it up to find little flower buds inside. Great way to finish off my Pattison's experience :)
Over all my experience at Pattison's this time was great :) lovely service and great food.
I do want to add a little note, because I do not want my readers to be misguided in anyway. The cupcakes and french macarons I have tried from Pattison's the previous times were quite dry, it may be because I could have encountered an older batch, but I had given it multiple tries.
They do look beautiful though...
